The MLM Survival Guide - What is Your Upline Not Telling You on Those 3 Way Calls?

How did you get into your Network Marketing Business? Did you go looking for an opportunity or did it find you?

Maybe you got in to the business because you had a passion for a product or service you were using and the person you got it from offered you a chance to make money using that product or service.

How you got in doesn't really matter. What does matter is that there was someone who introduced you to that incredible opportunity for financial freedom and a better quality of life. That person, whether they were a friend, relative, acquaintance or even stranger became connected to you and your new business as your Upline. The role of an Upline is primarily to get you enrolled in your new venture and to then show you the ropes. Hopefully that person has some knowledge and do more than just point you to the company training manuals or website tutorials.

Unfortunately, in many cases, this person, your Upline, doesn't really know much more about your new business than you do. Even if your Upline is a seasoned Network Marketing Pro, the first piece of advice you get is, "make a list of all your friends and family". The next step usually involves you getting potential prospects on a three way call with your direct Upline or someone even higher up to basically 'close the sale'. If your Upline was anything like mine, I was told not to worry about knowing anything about my product just "edify" my Upline.

Since I was not an English Major, I needed to look up edify. Basically, it means to position them as an expert. So I would get the prospect, put on a call with the experts and they would do the rest. This process seems great while your new but after talking to the experts how has that positioned you with your potential downline?

Here Are Five Little Tricks Your Upline Won't Tell You on a Three Way Call

#1. You have positioned your Upline as the expert and were told you really didn't need to know anything about your product. The trick your Upline didn't tell you was that people like to buy from experts! If you were going in for surgery you wouldn't want the 'real' surgeon on a three way call giving the guy with the knife instructions! Learn about your product and take steps to position yourself as an expert. If you use your Upline for assistance on a three way call do it as partners or as team members. Remember, this is your prospect and they will look to you in the future!

#2. After you have exhausted your friends and family list, your Upline may tell you that you can buy leads. What they don't tell you is how to buy them, who to buy them from or what even what a SAN # is.

#3. You listen in on that three way call but what your Upline does let you in on is that what their saying is following a very specific script. They told you how make that list and get the prospects to a call but the trick they forgot to tell you was what to say to the prospects your bringing to the table!

#4. The need for leads is still your number one question and your Upline still hasn't told you about all the free sources to get advertising online and offline that will generate real targeted traffic and hungry prospects.

#5. The three way call went great and the prospect is now in your downline! The trick you didn't learn on that call was the techniques used to close that prospect or how to answer their rebuttal questions.

There is an art and science to being a successful Network Marketer. By success, I mean the person who walks across that stage month after month reaching the top rungs in the company.

Your Upline may not intentionally be withholding vital marketing secrets from you, they just might not know anything beyond chasing friends and family!

If you want that type of success for your future you need to get beyond your warm market by learning to generate your own leads and position yourself as the expert. Article writing is a great way to start that process.

If you chose to buy leads, know what your doing and who to buy from. Make sure you have a script for both the prospecting part of the process and the closing part. You don't want to end the call feeling like you forget to say all the important stuff.

Remember, you are 100% responsible for making your success happen! The proper training and marketing tools are essential to getting beyond your warm market and catapult you into the 21st Century of Network Marketing success.
